Your roadmap to flying

If you want to learn to fly in India, here is the path from zero to solo — and beyond.

1

Trial lesson

Book a discovery flight at any DGCA-approved flight school. One hour in the air will tell you if flying is for you. Most schools offer this for ₹3,000–8,000.

2

Student Pilot Licence (SPL)

A basic medical exam and a written test gets you an SPL. You can now fly solo under instructor supervision.

3

Private Pilot Licence (PPL)

40+ hours of flight training, written exams, and a skills test. You can now fly yourself and passengers for non-commercial purposes.

4

Join an aero club or flying group

Connect with other pilots, share aircraft costs, build your hours, and become part of the GA community.

5

Commercial or specialist ratings (optional)

CPL, instrument rating, multi-engine, and more — if you want to fly professionally or in specific roles.
